The lolly-pop and rainbow world of the liberal

I felt one of the comments I recently received deserved a detailed response, so here it is. This is in response to Octobia's comment to my post "Random Thoughts While Listening to President Obama's Speech in Egypt".

No, Octobia, nuclear weapons are not on our "wish-list", as you put it. The thing about us Conservatives is that we live in the real world. There are nuclear weapons in the real world. To think that nuclear weapons are going to just disappear is naive and childish. My point is now that the toothpaste is out of the tube, there is no way you are going to get it all back in there again.

For Obama to say things like he is seeking a world without nuclear weapons is just more flowery language that means nothing.

And by the way, Clinton thought it was a great idea to allow North Korea to have nuclear technology for power. Now North Korea is threatening nuclear war. It's that kind of naive thinking that puts the world more and more in danger. Liberals need to wake up and realize that there are actually bad guys out there. We can't "negotiate" with all of them, no matter how much you wish for it.

The Founding Fathers said one of the main duties of a Federal Government is to protect the people. You don't do that by getting rid of all our nuclear weapons and allowing only the bad guys to have them. It's the same arguement that liberals use with gun control and it doesn't hold any water and just points out how amazingly naive their outlook on the world really is.
